IANG Renewal and Permanent Residency After Seven Years in Hong Kong

Learn the IANG renewal mode and the seven-year residency requirement for Hong Kong permanent residence.

IANG Renewal Mode

Under the Immigration Arrangements for Non-local Graduates (IANG), graduates may apply for extension of stay in Hong Kong under the mode of “employment” or “establishment of business”. The renewal mode typically allows graduates to stay for a period of 24 months per extension, subject to the Director of Immigration’s discretion.

Seven-Year Residency Requirement

To be eligible for permanent residence in Hong Kong, a person must have ordinarily resided in Hong Kong for a continuous period of not less than seven years. This requirement applies to IANG holders as well, meaning that time spent under IANG stays counts toward the seven-year period.

Conditions and Remarks

The details above are based on the official IANG guidelines. For specific cases, the Immigration Department may impose additional conditions. Always refer to the latest official sources for accurate and up-to-date information.
